How to become a Member

Must have a sponsor and/or a letter of recommendation (employer, supervisor, bank, etc.).


Must attend orientation before being voted on to become a member. No proxies are allowed for orientation.


Must be present at the general membership meeting to be voted in as a member. No proxies allowed.


Is considered a Probationary Member for the first year.


May not hold any office until after the first year of being a member and meeting all the requirements of a Probationary Member.


Must pay the initiation fee in full before obtaining any open lot. NO REFUNDS on initiation fee.


Must attend at least two (2) general membership meetings the first year as a member.


Must choose a committee to work with the first year as a member.


Must have accumulated at least twelve (12) hours from work on workdays with any committee.


Must recite and agree to the IWLA pledge and the conservation of the environment.

IWLA Membership Pledge

 To strive for the purity of water, the clarity of air, and the wise stewardship of the land and its resources; to know the beauty and understanding of nature and the value of wildlife, woodlands, and open space; to the preservation of this heritage and to mankind's sharing in it.


I pledge myself as a member of the Izaak Walton League of America.
